Life is the Bubbles... My Upcoming Disney World Trip Jan. 2020

If you couldn’t tell by the title, I’m headed to Disney World in January! I absolutely cannot wait. When we leave, it will be almost exactly 4 years since our last trip in January of 2016. This will be my fourth time in Disney World. In January, me and my parents will be going for my senior trip even though I graduated high school a year and a half ago:). My sibling will be staying at home with grandparents while we’re gone. But, this trip, we’re not just going for the parks, my dad and I are also going to be running our first 10k with runDisney. Since I found out about the races put on by runDisney 3 years ago, I have been talking about them almost nonstop, and last January, my mom agreed to let me run one and also have my senior trip in January of 2020! I haven’t been training as much as I should have so far, but I’ve definitely been doing my best. Like our 2016 trip, we will be staying at the Pop Century resort.
As we will only be in Florida for 5 days and we are flying there and home 2 of those days, we are only going to 3 out of the 4 parks. The first day when we fly in, we plan on going to the runDisney race expo, Disney Springs, and other resorts that we’ve never stayed at to look around. The next day, we will be at Hollywood Studios. The third day, we are going to Animal Kingdom, but because of the 10k that morning, my dad and I won’t be there the whole day. My mom plans on getting there as soon as it opens to ride rides before it gets busy. Our last day before we leave will be spent at Magic Kingdom, my personal favorite park. We fly out early the next morning.
We are less than 60 days out from our first day in the World, and I have made all of my fastpasses. I may change some later on, but as of right now I have the max. amount of 3 for each day. For Hollywood Studios, I have fastpasses for the Indiana Jones show, the Frozen Sing Along, and Toy Story Mania. I originally wanted Slinky Dog Dash and Smuggler’s Run instead of the two show fastpasses, but for whatever reason, the site wouldn’t allow me to make those. In Animal Kingdom, I got the highly coveted Flight of Passage fastpass along with ones for Expedition Everest and Kilimanjaro Safaris. As for Magic Kingdom, I made fastpasses for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Peter Pan’s Flight, and Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin. To get these, I did have to get up quite early, but it will definitely be worth it when I’m not waiting in long lines in January. Disney allows people to make fastpasses for their whole trip 60 or 30 days before their first day there starting at 7am Eastern time. The 60 days out is for people staying at a Disney resort, and 30 day window is for the people staying elsewhere.
As for dining reservations, I only made two. This trip we elected to forgo the dining plan since there are only 3 of us going. For most meals, we plan on eating at quick service locations. One that I am looking forward to eating at again is Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe. In 2016, we ate here twice, and the food was amazing. We could also feed four people with only 2 orders of food which was nice. My first reservation I made was for Cinderella’s Royal Table. We will be eating breakfast here an hour before the park even opens. (Pro tip: Make breakfast reservations before the parks opens so that you might be the first in line for nearby rides if you eat fast enough.) I’ve heard the food isn’t the best, but the experience of eating in the castle is great. (EDIT: The food was awesome!! I think they had updated the menu.) This one, I also had to get up at 7am Eastern time, 6am my time to get. The other reservation I made was for Be Our Guest. We will be eating a late lunch around 2:30. If you ever eat at Be Our Guest, you have to try the Grey Stuff. It’s one of my favorite desserts!
This trip is going to be full of new experiences. For one, it will be my first runDisney event. I’m really excited to see what the runDisney race expo and the actual race will be like. I’ve watched countless videos on youtube, but seeing it in real life will be so much better. Also, it will be the first trip to Disney I’ve been on without younger kids as it is just me and my parents. I’m looking forward to seeing the renovated rooms at Pop Century. Instead of having two beds, they now have one regular bed and a murphy bed that folds up if you don’t need it. But, the great thing is that the murphy bed apparently still has a real mattress. In January, I finally get to go to Pandora, Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge, and Toy Story Land, so that is really exciting. I’ve been looking forward to seeing Galaxy’s Edge ever since they announced it a few years ago. My mom and Pawpaw used to watch Star Wars together when my mom was little, and when The Force Awakens came out, my Pawpaw got me into the series as well. The last thing I’ll talk about that I’m excited to see during this trip is the Christmas decorations. Disney doesn’t immediately take down all of their decor, so when I go the second week of January, most, if not all, of the decorations will still be up to see. There is so much that has changed in the World since 2016. I just can’t wait to get there!
