5 Attractions You Can't Miss in Disney World

There are so many amazing attractions in Disney World, and when you only have a short amount of time there, it can be hard to decide what you must do during your trip. This list is the 5 attractions in Disney World that I think everyone should do when they are there. If you can, get a fastpass for each of these as the lines can get very, very long for most of them. Be sure to read all the way through to see the bonus attractions at the end!

1. Rise of the Resistance
This is literally the best ride Disney has ever put in the parks. This is not like the other rides and attractions. It’s a ride while still being an experience. RoR is in Hollywood Studios. In Rise of the Resistance, you are helping the Resistance when you’re captured by the First Order. One thing that is unique to RoR is that the cast members play a role, and they don’t break character at all. The First Order people are cold towards you, and the Resistance people are kind. My dad tried his best to get a smile out of one First Order person with dorky dad jokes, but the dude never cracked. It was hilarious!

2.Flight of Passage
Flight of Passage is an amazing, immersive experience. Like in the movie Avatar, you are paired with a Na'vi avatar so that you can explore their world. You ride on the back of a banshee just like Jake Sully. This ride is similar to Sourin' but way better. Instead of just sitting in the seat, the ride vehicle is like a motorcycle so that it really feels like your on the back of a banshee. I only went through the fastpass queue, but my mom got to ride it once by herself and went through the standby line. She said that you wind your way through the lab on Pandora and get to see everything they're working on including a growing avatar. If you haven't seen the movie, I highly suggest watching it before riding Flight of Passage, but if you don't, you can still thoroughly enjoy the ride. This is my favorite ride in Animal Kingdom.

3. Expedition Everest
When I first rode this ride, I absolutely hated it, but I was only 9 and didn't like roller coasters at all. I tried Expedition Everest again on our next Disney trip and loved it! We ended up riding it four times that day. On this ride you're journeying through Mt. Everest looking for the Yeti. This coaster goes forwards and backwards. The queue for this ride is also fun. It shows "evidence" for the existence of the Yeti. While going up the mountainside, you can see all of Disney World when you look out. I remember seeing the Epcot ball and the Swan & Dolphin resorts in particular. I think you can also see Tower of Terror. This is another of my favorite Animal Kingdom rides.

These were our ride photos from 2016! We loved looking at each of our faces. By the 4th picture, we finally remembered where the camera was.

4. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is a super cute, kid-friendly coaster. This coaster takes you through different scenes from Snow White, and frequently has a long line. If you're looking for a roller coaster with high thrills, this wouldn't be the best for you. But it is still a fun one, and the theming is amazing! When you ride this one, a video of the ride is added to your photopass along with your ride photo.

5. Soarin' Around the World
So, I haven't actually ridden this ride since 2009, but on that Disney trip it was my favorite ride! When we went in 2016, the ride was being refurbished, and in 2020, we didn't get to go to Epcot because we only had 3 park days. Anyway, this takes you all around the world using video footage and scents from the scenes. The best seats for Soarin' are on the front row, but you can see well in every seat. This ride is just so cool!

Bonus Rides!

-Slinky Dog Dash-This was one of my favorites when we went in January! It's so cute, and it's a fun roller coaster. The theming is absolutely amazing on the ride and in Toy Story Land. They put some many details into the area. On Slinky Dog Dash, you're riding through a roller coaster made by Andy with his toys. This coaster is also kid-friendly, but it's still so much fun for for adults too.

-Toy Story Mania- This was the ride my mom looked forward to the most when we went in January. She hadn't ridden it since we went in 2009. In Toy Story Mania, you're playing a game where you shooting at different kinds of targets on a 3D screen. This one is also built to look like Andy made it out of his toys. The "popsicle sticks" near the exit are even colored to look like they were dyed from a popsicle.

-Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor- This is another of my favorites! I have to watch the show at least once every trip. Laugh Floor is a comedy show with the monsters from Monster Inc., and they use audience members to help with the jokes. One of the best stories we still tell from our 2009 trip is when I was one of the audience members given a microphone to talk to Mike Wazowski. I had on silver sequin Minnie ears, and Mike said something about them. As a shy 4th grader, I got self-conscious and took them off. He then dropped his microphone and said, with a very surprised face, "You can take your ears off?!" They make me laugh so much on this attraction!
